I’m in the process of getting solar installed and was looking for something to make my asphalt roof last at least as long as the panels (since it costs more to get them removed and reinstalled than it does to get them installed), and I wanted something that would make my roof white since up to 40% of summer cooling costs can be saved by having a white vs black roof (and yes even coloured asphalt shingles are mostly black, they just look coloured from a distance). I looked at a number of different sealers and liquid rubber coatings and while this one was a bit more expensive than others in terms of per 5-gallon pail, the math of coverage and number of coats required (500 sqft/pail and only 2 coats) it was FAR more cost effective than the others. Unlike other options, it is also specifically made for shingles (rather than general roofs or general waterproofing applications), and comes with a 10 year warranty (versus 5 year for most others). After talking with a rep, they suggested actual life expectancy should be closer to 20 years and should be looked at as an extension on the lifespan of the shingle it is on (ie. a 25 year shingle becomes a 35 to 45 year shingle).
It also came in clear as well as multiple other opaque colours, one of which was white.
The most interesting concept for me though was their suggestion that reapplying one additional coat every ten years would extend the life of the roof indefinitely.
Granted with solar panels in place that would require removing them every 10 years to do a complete roof re-coat, but in my mind, since the panels protect the roofing below to a large extent, as long as I re-coat around the panels (and perhaps as far under as I can get) the result should be the same.
So I went ahead and ordered up six 5 gallon pails, (just shy of what the coverage suggested I needed for a 1600 sqft roof) and they arrived about 4 days later.
What comes is a pail of yellowish white liquid, which I assume is the “clear” version once it dries, because it also comes with a bag of coloured powder that you have to mix in (which takes about 10 minutes to mix in thoroughly with a drill-type mixer).
I couldn’t find a roofer in my area who wanted to paint, or a painter who wanted to go on a roof, so I ended up doing it myself.
Don’t bother using a tray, just use a big mug, pour out a line and then spread it out with a 19mm roller on a pole. Roll it perpendicular to the lines of shingles, and make sure to stop at the edge of a line and you will avoid lap-lines, and also paint the front edge of the shingles (which doesn’t happen if you go parallel to the shingle lines).
The first coat used up 4 of the 6 gallons so I thought I might need more but the last two did the second coat no problem since it didn’t get sucked in so much. I also did the first coat on two very hot, sunny days and the sealer dried very quickly on the hot roof (around 5-10 minutes), which probably also negatively affected coverage, whereas the second coat i did on overcast days and it stayed wet for a good 20-30 minutes at least.
In terms of heat gain, at the beginning of the second day when the sun was barely up, the un-treated roof was already on the verge of too hot to touch whereas the treated roof was cold, like a stone countertop, and it was still only half-way to white since it was only the first coat.
Now that it’s done, the second floor of the house is much more livable on hot, sunny days (no noticeable difference to cool overcast days), and the roof itself has a hard plastic feel to it that feels WAY more durable than typical shingles.
The solar panels haven’t been installed yet but I have no doubt the roof will last as long as they will if not longer just off this initial application, but I will probably still re-coat exposed areas ever 10 years just to be safe

I searched all over the internet and through Local Roofing "Experts" to find a solution to my "Leaking Torch Down, Flat Roof" which was covered by a chip rubber (Playground) surface. I wanted a low viscosity, pourable solution that would flow to the pin hole and seal it. NO-ONE had a solution!! Most suggested that we would have to pull up the playground surface, find the leak, fix it and try to match the playground surface. FINALLY I found Rexoseal and spoke to Anthony. He is very knowledgeable and knew exactly what my problem was an suggested their Resoseal Clear. It arrived next day and, exactly as described, it poured and flowed through the chip rubber surface to the torch down substrate.

Application was easy. Preparing the surface was the most time consuming part of the process.

For starters, the company provides great customer service, plus quick shipping (ordered on a Saturday and shipped out the following Monday). I received my order in 5 days, and I’m in South Florida.

As for the product, it’s a little thicker than paint, but was easy to work with using an inexpensive 4” brush I bought from Harbor Freight. When I was applying it, I noticed it was a dark brown color, but once dried, it dried black. I applied a total of 4 coats which may be overkill, but I bought the 5-gallons to make sure I had enough coverage plus extra if needed somewhere else (I may try coating the bottom of the 4x4s for my upcoming project to see if this product will slow down the rotting when they are buried). The reason for only the 4 stars is because it hasn’t been put to the real test yet. The real test will be when we have a day or two of nonstop rain, but as of now with the quick heavy downpours, the product works.

Incredible product! Saw this at the local home show and grabbed a flyer. Months later ordered up a small pale to paint deck railing. Albeit a bit pricey (compared to conventional stain/lacquer) it ended up being well worth it. Only regret is not buying the large bucket because now I want to do the rest of the deck flooring!

Coating my shingle roof has been quite the adventure! I encountered a few problems at first but after discussing it with Anthony we were able to work out a great solution that worked out beautifully!
The big take away that I learned is to rent an airless sprayer which makes the application a breeze! The product dries quickly and leaves an amazing finish.
I would highly recommend this product to any one wanting to preserve and extend the life of their shingle roof!

I have used this product again for the rest of my roof.
I have used Rexoseal 2000 to prolong the life of my 15+ year old shingles as it would have been extremely difficult to replace them due to my solar panel installation. I think it is a great product if you have too many obstructions on the roof and it would be costly/time consuming to replace the shingles themselves. I also like that this product is pure white so it does reflect a fair amount of radiation keeping the roof and attic relatively cold, hence it could potentially reduce air-conditioning cost. The house looks cool with a white roof. White roofs could more sustainable!
If you are using it on old shingles allow for 1 x 5Gal pale per 200-300sqft, depending on the condition of the shingles. I would suggest adding 5 to 10% Volume of water to facilitate installation.

I have used to product on the North facing side of my bitumen shingle roof. The snow/ice is usually staying on this part the longest time and the 15 year old shingles started to give away. The white color gives an exceptional visual boost to the house in summer, it also keeps the main floor cooler. The application was easy, this product is odorless. It is recommended to have a few spare brushes though as this material is very thick. It needs about 4 days to dry if temperature is between 5 and 10C.
I am planning to use this product on the rest of my roof as I have a solar PV system installed and I would not have any easy way of replacing the shingles without removing the solar panels.

We just finished using your product on the roof of an 1987 Toyota Motor home. What a perfect product for the job, and easy to apply. We got an easy 4 coats for the 21 foot unit. Fantastic for the seams that have always given problems. We had some tree damage that was easy to repair. The corner picture is a repair. There’s is a huge difference in the heat the roof holds, much cooler now.

Hello I had the Rexoseal tape for three weeks on the roof I’m in Vancouver and it rains rains and rains it has held up hasn’t peeled off even when it’s sunny I thought it will peel off but It did not for three weeks so far it’s holding up all the leaks have stopped this stuff for three weeks is holding I’ll give another review in a years time if they let me The pictures below see for yourself I’m a regular Joe don’t trust any website or their reviews but for three weeks it’s been holding up 👌

Product came quickly, considering this was completed during COVID. My roof was 9 years old and feeling "Chalky" and hard to clean. I actually didn't trust the integrity of the roof anymore. I had met with a Rexoseal rep about 5 years ago at the RV show and kept his info. The product installed as promised, which is always a pleasant surprise! I did pay particular attention to the weather conditions, as I could see that this could make a big difference on the final result. The roof actually looks better than when we took delivery of the trailer! And more importantly, I feel that I have a better protected interior!
